When you go in for your routine checkup and cleaning<\/a>, you likely spend a lot of time with your dental hygienist. They walk you back to your room and do a variety of other things before your dentist steps in. Here are five reasons you should tell them you\u2019re grateful for how they take care of your smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

1.)  Gets Visits Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As was mentioned above, dental hygienists get your cleaning started when you come in. They are the ones who take X-rays, do oral health screenings, and perform any preventive or non-surgical periodontal procedures. They work to make sure your teeth have no plaque or tartar; that way, you can get back to a blank slate, and your dentist can better see if there are any worrying signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.)  Educate Their Patients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your hygienist is also here to teach you more about your smile. A big part of their job is to educate their patients about what is going on with their oral health. You\u2019ll be able to learn more about why a certain procedure is recommended and how exactly it can be beneficial for you in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from helping patients, hygienists also do plenty around the practice itself. They restock instruments and set up each treatment room. They keep and update records so any changes in your oral health are noted; that way, your care only becomes more personalized and better. Many of these professionals also confirm and coordinate appointments while answering emails. These all help the office continue to operate smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
